Over the last year, Tasmania/Lutruwita has seen the number of people living in inadequate or substandard dwellings increase by 63% and people sleeping rough increase by 76%. According to the State of Housing Dashboard, it takes 10 years to save for a deposit for a home, there are next to no affordable homes available for low-income earners, and the average wait time for social housing is 89 weeks. 

Safe and affordable housing is a right not a privilege.

Mapping Housing Rorts is a collective of people with lived experience of Tasmania’s housing crisis, and their allies. We map the housing stories of ordinary people, with the aim of creating change. We map dodgy rentals, vacant homes, and the rental portfolios of mega-landlords based on Lands Titles Office records.
